20/12/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), on Tuesday, 14 December 2010, closed the financing agreement to provide € 45 million to design, construct and operate onshore wind farms on four islands in the Cape Verde archipelago. This will be one of the largest wind projects in Africa and first renewable energy public private partnership in sub-Saharan Africa. The project will provide over 28MW of electricity generating capacity and help the island reach an ambitious target of ensuring that 25% of local power needs are provided by renewable energy by 2012 and 50% by 2020. The project is being developed by InfraCo in a public-private partnership between the government of Cape Verde and local power utility Electra.

20/05/2010 - The African Development bank (AfDB) Group Board of Directors met on Wednesday, 19 May 2010 in Tunis and approved over USD 313 for five operations. Under the approvals Liberia will received USD 39.40 million comprising an ADF grant and a Fragile States Facility (FSF) grant: to finance the country’s urban water supply and sanitation project. The provision of water supply and sanitation on a sustainable basis to rural and urban dwellers in Liberia constitutes a priority development objective for the government, which significantly contributes to the fight against poverty and disease.

04/11/2009 - Executive directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved near to USD 441 million in three loans for the implementation of projects in Botswana, Nigeria and Cape Verde, at their regular weekly session on Wednesday, 28 October 2009, in Tunis.

29/10/2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved a €40 million loan to Cape Verde to help the country respond to the impact of the global financial crisis while maintaining the momentum of its reform agenda. The loan will help to reinforce reforms, especially in the areas of public finance management and the business climate – the two components of the additional budget support to the Poverty Reduction Strategy Support Programme (PRSSP-II).

09/01/2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group and Cape Verde have signed a loan agreement of UA 5 million, equivalent to US$ 7.4 million or CVE 667,990,000 on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, in Tunis. Approved by the AfDB Board of Directors on December 22, 2008, the loan is designed to finance the Second Budget Support Programme to Cape Verde’s Poverty Reduction Strategy (PASRP-II).

16/04/2008 - The Bank Group signed on Thursday in Tunis a grant agreement of 35.70 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 58 million, to finance the Inga hydro-power stations, the Kinshasa distribution network and a rehabilitation and upgrading project (RDPMDP).
