13/05/2013 - The Emergency Economic Recovery Support Program for Mali approved on 8 May 2013 by the Board of the African Development Fund (ADF) of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) was signed on 10th May 2013 in Bamako. This program will help to restore the normal functioning of public administration, capacity strengthening of the civil service and the population’s access to basic social services, in particular health services and education and support to economic recovery.

08/05/2013 - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) approved on Wednesday, May 8 in Tunis, a loan of 30 billion CFA francs to the Republic of Mali. This amount will be drawn from the resources of the African Development Fund (ADF), the Bank’s concessional window, to finance an Emergency Economic Recovery Support Programme (EERSP).

The Af DB boosts integrated development and governance in Tunisia with Euros 22.9 million

06/05/2013 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Tunisia on Monday, May 6, 2013, in Tunis, signed two agreements relating to two important operations. The first agreement concerned the North Gafsa integrated development project (PDAI), in the amount of 22.115 million euros, while the second one, an agreement letter for 799,664 euros, related to the support and establishment of the e-government and open government. The funding amounts to 22.9 million euros.

26/04/2013 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved €115 million in financing for a wind power project in Kenya’s Lake Turkana region. The project will add 300MW to power generation capacity and will benefit Kenya by providing clean and affordable energy that will reduce the overall energy cost to end consumers. Furthermore, the project will allow the landlocked Great Rift Valley region to be connected to the rest of the country through the improved infrastructure linked to the wind farm, including a road, fiber-optic cable and electrification.

18/04/2013 - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and the government of Rwanda, on April 16, 2013 in Kigali, signed financing agreements amounting to UA 25.61 million (USD 38 million) for a skills, employability and entrepreneurship program. The Bank’s support comprises a grant of UA17.19 million (USD 25.3 million) and a loan of UA 8.42 million ( USD 12 623 264) and will finance Rwanda’s financial year 2012-2013 budget.

17/04/2013 - The African Development Bank has approved two loans totalling USD 232.5 million for the 157.5-kilometre road project from Arusha to Holili in Tanzania, and Taveta to Voi in Kenya, in an effort to reduce the cost of transport and enhance access to agricultural inputs, larger markets and social services within the East Africa Community.

05/04/2013 - As of the 31st of March 2013, the Global Environment Facility’s Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) has granted USD 18.6 million to be channeled by the African Development Bank (AfDB) to Sierra Leone, Uganda and Mauritania for project concepts to help climate-proof their water sectors. This work is regarded as a critical element of these countries’ moves toward climate-resilient poverty reduction and sustainable development.

05/04/2013 - The African Development Bank’s (AfDB) Board of Executive Directors on April 3, 2013 approved an African Development Fund (ADF) grant of USD $ 25.7 million and an ADF loan of USD 12.6 million for a Skills, Employability and Entrepreneurship Program (SEEP) in Rwanda.

26/03/2013 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved, on March 25, 2013, a grant amounting to US $3.04 million to finance the Kholombidzo Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) Feasibility Studies in Malawi. The Government of Malawi will contribute US $0.23 million (7%) of the total study cost of US $3.27 million.
