24/05/2012 - Millions of people living in the Baro-Akobo-Sobat (BAS) area of the Nile Basin are to benefit from a range of multi-purpose water resources projects to be planned by the Nile Basin Initiative. On May 4, the African Development Bank approved a €2 million grant from the African Water Facility to finance the development study needed to attract the investments required to implement them. The overall project is supported jointly by the New Partnership for Africa’s Development- Infrastructure Project Preparation Facility (NEPAD-IPPF).

16/03/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) has signed two grant agreements with the Gambian government totalling USD 7 million to improve access to clean drinking water and better sanitation for an estimated 40,000 people in rural areas of the country and cut hygiene-related deaths in those areas, particularly among children.

02/03/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Board of Directors has approved a grant of approximately €25 million (CFA 16.4 billion) to Côte d’Ivoire to finance an agricultural infrastructure support project in the Indénié-Djuablin region.

24/01/2012 - La Banque africaine de développement (BAD) a approuvé, le 11 janvier 2012, un financement de 64,45 millions de dinars tunisiens (32,45 millions d’euros) destiné à un projet de mise à niveau des infrastructures de traitement des eaux usées. L’objectif de ce projet est d’améliorer la qualité des eaux épurées qui serviront à l’irrigation de 5000 hectares de terres agricoles. L’agriculture constitue une importante activité économique en Tunisie et contribue à la sécurité alimentaire du pays.

18/01/2012 - The African Development Bank and the Government of Uganda signed two separate agreements on 12 January to finance projects to improve health services delivery and access to water and sanitation in both urban and rural areas of Uganda, with a total investment of USD 155.8 million. This double deal is expected to boost the country’s efforts to meet the 2015 Millennium Development Goals for health, water and sanitation.
