31/10/2011 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) recently approved a loan of USD 8 Million to finance the Lake Harvest Aquaculture project on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe. This loan will help Lake Harvest Aquaculture expand its tilapia fish farming significantly and provide an important supply of affordable protein to the sub region. In total, development finance institutions together, in partnership with the AfDB, are providing USD 20 million in loans towards the project.

Regional integration is one of the organisation’s priorities, , as reflected in its 2008-2011 Medium-Term Strategy, its Strategic and Operational Framework for Regional Operations and the its 2009-2012 Regional Integration Strategy.

22/07/2010 - The Bank’s enhanced presence in Zimbabwe will greatly strengthen its capacity to play a lead role in the collective dialogue in Zimbabwe and to provide advice and support to the Inclusive Government to ensure that Zimbabwe continues on the path of reforms and reengagement with the international community. Enhancing Bank presence in Zimbabwe is in line with the Bank’s decentralization policy.
