11/12/2009 - La Banque africaine de développement (BAD) et le gouvernement de la République de Maurice ont signé à Tunis, le 10 décembre 2009, un accord de prêt relatif à l’octroi de 420 millions USD et de 186 millions d’euros (équivalent à 700 millions USD) à la République de Maurice, pour financer le programme de compétitivité et d’efficacité du secteur public (CESP). L’accord a été signé par le vice-président El Kheshen pour la BAD, et pour la partie mauricienne par Rama Krishna Sithanen, vice-premier ministre et ministre des finances et du développement économique.

26/11/2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved a second budget support loan of US$ 420 million and EUR 186 million to finance the Competitiveness and Public Sector Efficiency (CPSE) Programme in Mauritius. The programme will sustain economic growth and employment against the backdrop of the ongoing global recession, while not losing momentum on long-term reforms needed to make Mauritius more competitive.

12/11/2009 - Mauritius is so small that wherever you are in the country you are always so close to the port. While in the fashionable talks of the grave issue of climate change this seems like a premonitory statement, it was actually stated as the opportunity the country offers to investors desiring to go there. Vinaye Anchaz, from the University of Mauritius, who presented a paper titled: “David versus Goliath: Mauritius facing up to China”, was speaking of how absurd it was for investors in his country to ask for plots of land close to the ports.
