29/02/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB), rated Aaa/AAA/AAA, today announced that it will offer an Education Support Bond to Japanese retail investors. The bond will be distributed by Tokai Tokyo Securities, Nishimura Securities, Banyo Securities and Rakuten Securities.

Already, water poses a number of challenges for Africa like it does nowhere else in the world. With only four years left to achieve the MDGs, progress in the continent towards meeting the targets set out is slow and many countries run the risk of missing the mark.

05/05/2011 - This year’s Global Monitoring Report 2011 entitled “Improving the Odds of Achieving the MDGs - Heterogeneity, Gaps and Challenges”, reviewed the evolution of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) towards their achievement deadline set for 2015 by World Leaders in 2000. The Global Monitoring Report is a product of a strategic collaboration of multilateral development finance institutions led by the World Bank and which includes the AfDB.

21/09/2010 - “Climate Change permeates all discussions on development and how we address the challenges of finance is an important issue,” AfDB Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Nkosana Moyo, said while opening a two-day Roundtable on African Perspectives on the Issues before the UN High Level Advisory Group on Climate change financing in Tunis on Tuesday 21 September 2010. Mr. Moyo was speaking on behalf of President Donald Kaberuka who is a member of the UN High Level Advisory Group, but is currently attending the Heads of States Summit on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in New York.

21/09/2010 - Africa has made steady progress on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), according to a report launched today by the African Union Commission (AUC), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The African Development Bank (AfDB) President, Donald Kaberuka, has been invited to co-chair the round-table to be held on the theme: “Domestic resource mobilization: achieving development and the MDG’s in a sustainable way” with Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid. The round-table is organized by the European Commission as a side event to the high level plenary meeting on the MDGs in New York on 20 September 2010. During the event, speakers will underscore the crucial role of domestic revenues in efforts at reaching the Millennium Development Goals in a sustainable way.

24/05/2010 - The African Economic Outlook (AEO) 2010 report, co-published by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and OECD on Monday, May 24, 2010 in Abidjan, at the AfDB’s Annual Meetings highlighted the progress made toward achieving the MDGs.

22/04/2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has released a concept note on a report to be published on the continent’s ports, logistics and trade. The report, one of the institution’s flagship publications, will focus on themes that address critical development challenges facing the continent. The 2010 edition will specifically focus on ‘Ports, Logistics and Trade in Africa’, given the tremendous opportunities offered by globalization and the need for the continent to be efficient at harnessing these opportunities.
