The 2015 deadline for the current Millennium Development Goals has led to a flurry of activities on what the post-2015 development agenda should look like. Should the MDGs be retained in their current configuration with an extended deadline, reformulated, or replaced by an alternative framework? Underlying all these is the question of which option is likely to have the greatest impact on poverty eradication in Africa.

11/12/2012 - Representatives from governments, parliaments, CSOs, private sector; youth, and NGOs from the Central, West and North Africa are gathering on December 10-11, 2012 in Dakar, Senegal, to discuss top priorities to be included in the global development agenda beyond 2015, which will be debated at the UN General Assembly in September 2013.

17/10/2012 - The African Development Bank Group today joined the international community in commemorating the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The occasion presents an opportunity to take stock of the progress made in achieving the objectives of the Millennium Development Goals by 2015. According to the United Nations, more than one billion people are still living in poverty, deprived of their rights to food, education and health.

AfDB, UNECA, and AUC Partner to Improve Statistical Capacity to Prepare Metadata for MDGs Indicators
03/08/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) in close cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the Africa Union Commission (AUC), is organising a workshop on “Preparing metadata for MDGs indicators for statisticians from national statistical offices in the Bank’s regional member countries.
