05/04/2013 - As of the 31st of March 2013, the Global Environment Facility’s Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) has granted USD 18.6 million to be channeled by the African Development Bank (AfDB) to Sierra Leone, Uganda and Mauritania for project concepts to help climate-proof their water sectors. This work is regarded as a critical element of these countries’ moves toward climate-resilient poverty reduction and sustainable development.

27/02/2013 - An African Development Bank team composed of experts from the Energy, Environment and Climate Change Department (ONEC) and the Sierra Leone Field Office (SLFO) completed its second green growth mission to Sierra Leone from February 4 to 8, 2013. The objective of the mission was to work further with Government counterparts on mainstreaming green growth into Sierra Leone’s Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) – (2013–2017) called “Agenda for Prosperity”, currently under preparation.

10/12/2012 - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) is pleased to announce the 3rd call for proposals of the Migration and Development Fund (MDF). Award amounts will range from 350,000 EUR to 500,000 EUR per project.

07/11/2012 - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) is pleased to announce the 2nd call for proposals of the Microfinance Capacity Building Fund (“MCBF”). Award amounts will range from US $200,000 to US $500,000 per project, depending on the activity, and will be given to approximately 6-8 awardees.

26/09/2012 - African Development Bank (AfDB) staff from the Energy, Environment and Climate Change Department (ONEC3) and the Sierra Leone Field Office (SLFO) undertook a mission from September 3-7 in Sierra Leone to support the Government in its efforts to mainstream green growth into its Agenda for Prosperity. The Agenda for Prosperity, which is the country’s third Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP3), is currently being drafted by a broad spectrum of stakeholders across all government ministries. With the AfDB’s green growth intervention in the PRSP, the country will establish itself as the first fragile state in Africa to embrace green growth as a development opportunity.
