01/04/2013 - At their meeting in Durban, the BRICS group put forward the proposal establishing a Development Bank under their auspices. This initiative was hailed by Donald Kaberuka, President of the AfDB. A grand premiere in Africa, this decision was taken at the meeting held on the 26 and 27 March 2013. The continent welcomed the annual meeting of the BRICS group held in Durban made up of Brazil, India, China, Russia and South Africa joining these countries in April 2011.

26/03/2013 - The new world order comes to Durban this week – for the fifth BRICS Summit, and the first in Africa. Dilma Rousseff, Vladimir Putin, Manmohan Singh, Xi Jinping and Jacob Zuma represent a changing world, as gravity and power gradually shift from North to South, and West to East. Between them, they preside over nearly half of the world’s population, and nearly a quarter of its GDP.

01/03/2013 - Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), met on February 25 in Washington, DC, the heads of the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Monetary Fund and the Inter-American Development Bank. The goal of the meeting: to renew the commitment to further cooperation between the multilateral development banks (MDBs).

01/03/2013 - The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Donald Kaberuka, was received on Thursday, February 28 in Yamoussoukro by Alassane Ouattara, President of Côte D’Ivoire. The meeting took place alongside the 42th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), one day after the AfDB Board of Directors held its meeting in Abidjan.
