19/02/2013 - Pascal Canfin, Deputy Minister in charge of Development in France, signed on February 11, 2013, an agreement concerning the membership of France to the African Legal Support Facility of the African Development Bank. This agreement brings the number to 50 signatories. Thus, France becomes the fifth non-regional member country to join the ALSF after the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium and Brazil .

16/02/2011 - The international Trade Law Capacity Building Project was formally launched in Kigali (Rwanda), on February 11, 2011, by Rwanda’s President, Paul Kagame, and the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group President, Donald Kaberuka. This major legal capacity building project is a joint program of the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) and the Pan-African Lawyers’ Union (PALU). It is designed to strengthen international trade law practice on the continent and build the rule of law in the service of economic development of African countries.

21/01/2011 - The African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) undertook a mission to Washington DC and New York, from January 10 to 14, 2011, and held discussions with the World Bank, IFC and the Revenue Watch Institute officials and experts. The discussions were held within the framework of the ALSF’s strong commitment and firm determination to support African countries in building capacity and advisory services.

09/11/2010 - The African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) will provide a USD 500,000 grant to fund services of a reputable international law firm in connection with the dispute between the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and a renowned vulture fund, FG Hemisphere. The ALSF Acting Director, Mamoudou Deme, revealed his institution’s support to DRC, on Tuesday, 9 November 2010 in Tunis, following the grant’s approval by the ALSF Board on 8 November 2010.
