21/06/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) have released a joint report on the state of environment in Africa, and are calling world leaders to invest in Africa’s natural capital. The report is intended to catalyze decision-makers to invest in Africa’s sustainable development and is being presented at Rio+20, at an event organized by the AfDB and WWF and hosted by the Senegalese government.

21/06/2012 - In the context of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, the Africa @ Rio+20 organized a High Level panel discussion on “Promoting Inclusive Green Growth and building a Green Economy as a means to achieve sustainable development: Perspectives on Opportunities and Challenges faced by Africa, Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States” on 18 June.

28/09/2011 - The African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) held its fourth special session in Bamako, Mali on 15-16 September 2011 to discuss and consolidate the common African negotiating position on a comprehensive climate change regime beyond 2012. They also worked to prepare for the Rio+20 Sustainable Development Conference to take place in June 2012. The African Development Bank (AfDB) consulted on its draft report on the Africa Green Fund as mandated by the African Union Summit of July 2011.

09/06/2011 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Wednesday in Lisbon signed two major cooperation agreements with China and Brazil for the funding of projects and programs in the AfDB´s regional member countries (RMCs).

11/05/2011 - The Report, titled, “The BRICs in North Africa: Changing the Name of the Game?” says the group, which comprised Brazil, Russia, India and China during the time covered by the report (South Africa joined in 2011) is drawn to the region due to a growing need for raw materials and minerals; an amenable investment and regulatory climate; its relatively large population and overall GDP; low production and labour costs, and geographical proximity to European and Middle East markets.
