19/02/2013 - The African Development Bank (AfDB), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the African Union (AU) have, under the Climate for Development in Africa Program, undertaken a vibrant campaign for financial resources mobilization aimed at making viable the Special ClimDev-Africa Fund, a joint AU-AfDB-ECA initiative, administered by the African Development Bank. In accordance with AfDB procedures, UA 20 million (about US $30 million) were required to make this Fund operational.

08/10/2010 - Managing climate change has become a governance issue. Consequent upon African Development Bank’s (AfDB’s) commitment to both governance and climate change, the institution’s president, Donald Kaberuka, will on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, in Addis Ababa address the first plenary session of the Seventh African Development Forum (ADF-VII) on the theme: “High Level Leadership Dialogue on Governance and Leadership Response to Climate Change”.

20/09/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Boards of Directors have authorized the signing of financial procedures agreements with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development acting (IBRD) as the trustee of the two Climate Investment Trust Funds (CIFs): the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) and the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF).

04/05/2010 - The African Development Bank Group launched on Monday, 3 May 2010 in Tunis, an African climate institutions support project which will run from 2010-2012. The project is estimated at US$37 million and is part of ongoing efforts by the Bank to confront the problem of climate change.

The African Development Bank will participate in the First Conference of Ministers Responsible for Meteorology in Africa scheduled to take place from 12-16 April in Nairobi, Kenya. The Vice-President in charge of Sector Operations, Kamal Elkheshen is expected to lead the AfDB delegation, which will include the Environment and Natural Resources Division Manager, Ken Johm, and the Gender, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Unit Head, Anthony Nyong. The Conference is sponsored by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Twenty five African ministers have confirmed participation.
