23/05/2012 - On May 10, a high level meeting chaired by President Donald Kaberuka, former British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, and Tim Berners-Lee, founder of the Web Foundation elicited a lively debate among 10 Ministers of Education and Science and Technology from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Uganda; who met with officials of Intel, Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent, HP, Adobe, and Microsoft among other leading technology companies in Africa. Other country governments represented were Benin, Burundi, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Mauritius, Nigeria and Rwanda.

10/05/2012 - Today at the World Economic Forum on Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, high-level representatives from the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development, the African Development Bank, Microsoft, Nokia, infoDev, DEMO, and the World Economic Forum launched a new partnership to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa.

AfDB, IFC and Citi Join Efforts to Support African Trade

01/10/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Citigroup and International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, have agreed to provide USD 175 million in trade financing for exporters and importers in Africa to help boost economic growth.

07/05/2010 - The World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa ended on Friday, 7 May 2010, in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, after three days of deliberations on how leaders and policy-makers should deal with challenges posed by the global economic crisis and how to use the crisis as an opportunity to design a sustainable road map for the continent’s development.

06/05/2010 - African Development Bank (AfDB) President, Donald Kaberuka, and his delegation are participating in the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa which started on Wednesday, 5 May 2010, in Dar es-Salaam, Tanzania. For the first time, the AfDB is the WEF’s official partner and, it is in this regard, playing an important role in the deliberations. In order to bring the institution’s development themes to the fore, Mr. Kaberuka has attended several discussion forums on the "state of investment in Africa and how to make the African market more attractive". Mr. Kaberuka was also part of a discussion panel that focused on "women and entrepreneurship in Afrique".

30/04/2010 - Cape Verde, with little natural resources, goes against all odds in Africa by becoming the first case of “policy induced graduation” on the continent, as opposed to natural resources driven graduation. A resource-poor country characterized by an arid Sahelian climate and little arable land has witnessed steady rising living standards and is on the way to achieve most of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
