05/12/2012 - Over 750,000 people from three Darfur states will have improved access to water supply and sanitation through a €3.3 million African Water Facility (AWF) grant. The project was recently launched during two separate ceremonies held on November 25 in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, and on November 29 in El Fasher, North Darfur State capital.

This eight-lane ultra-modern superhighway stretching from the city of Nairobi all the way to the outskirts of Thika town some 50 kilometres away will deeply change the lives of millions of people.

09/11/2012 - The 50-km Nairobi–Thika superhighway, described by Kenya’s President Mwai Kibaki as a source of “national pride” during its launch on November 9, covers an area that lies within the Nairobi Metropolitan and Central Province, including large sections of the City and Thika district. The road traverses Kasarani, Githurai, Ruiru, Juja and ends at Thika River Bridge in Thika district. The total population living along the road is approximately 1 million.

18/09/2012 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved on 6 September 2012 a USD 7 million equity investment in the Pan African Housing Fund (PAHF), a private equity fund targeting the lower-middle and middle-middle class residential housing market in Africa. This contribution will allow PAHF to help grow the capacity of local developers to deliver housing development projects that address the severe shortage of housing and corresponding infrastructure required to keep pace with Africa’s fast-paced urbanization.

29/08/2012 - The African Development Bank Group, UNICEF and the Government of Madagascar signed a US $1-million grant agreement to fund rehabilitation of social infrastructure in the country following the devastating cyclones Giovanna and Irina, which hit the country in February. The signing took place on August 23 in Brickaville, about 250 km east of Antananarivo.

24/07/2012 - La Banque africaine de développement (BAD) vient d’octroyer 80 milliards de FCFA au Burkina Faso pour la réhabilitation de routes et la facilitation du transport sur le corridor avec le Togo. La cérémonie de signature de l’accord de financement a eu lieu le jeudi 19 juillet 2012, à Ouagadougou, entre le gouvernement du Burkina Faso, représenté par M. Lucien Marie Noël Bembamba, ministre de l’économie et des finances et la Banque, représentée par Mme Ginette Nzau-Muteta, représentante résidente de la Banque africaine de développement au Burkina Faso.

06/07/2012 - The financial closing ceremony for the construction, operation and maintenance of the Henry Konan Bedie Toll Bridge Project in Abidjan ('Abidjan’s 3rd bridge') was held at the White & Case law firm Paris on 28 June in a ceremony attended by the Ivorian Minister of Economy and Finance, Charles Koffi Diby and the Minister of Economic Infrastructure, Patrick Achi.

29/06/2012 - Le Conseil d’administration de la BAD a approuvé, le 27 juin à Tunis, le financement de la réhabilitation et le bitumage de 303 km de route sur le corridor international Lomé-Ouagadougou, dont 150 km au Togo et 153 km au Burkina Faso. Le projet comporte également des aménagements connexes tels que la construction de plus de 100 km de pistes rurales, la réhabilitation d’infrastructures sociales et d’appui aux femmes, ainsi que deux volets importants pour la facilitation du transport et le renforcement des capacités.
