19/02/2013 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) has launched an ambitious program to significantly improve data management and dissemination in Africa. The ultimate goal of the program is to facilitate wider public access to official statistics and to support countries in their efforts to improve data quality and dissemination for better policy formulation, monitoring and evaluation. The program was launched in November 2012 as part of the Bank’s broader statistical capacity building program in Africa.

02/03/2012 - The Board of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved an equity investment of USD 50 million into the Carlyle Sub Saharan Africa Fund on 22February. This fund is the first investment vehicle that the US-based private equity firm The Carlyle Group has raised to pursue its geographical expansion into sub-Saharan Africa.

22/09/2011 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on 20 September 2011 in Tunis approved loans and grants amounting to 160 million Units of Account* (USD 257.6 million) to finance public sector growth support as well as water and sanitation projects in Burkina Faso, Mozambique, and Niger.

15/03/2011 - African Development Bank (AfDB) President Donald Kaberuka has affirmed his institution’s strong commitment to enhancing regional integration and growth in Southern Africa. Addressing the media close to the end of a six-day official visit to the region, Dr. Kaberuka said the AfDB had done well in terms of the volume of its support to South Africa and the broader SADC region but still had to do more in view of the challenges that still abound.

17/12/2010 - The Mozambican government on December 4, 2010, inaugurated two water systems constructed under the Urban Water Supply, Sanitation and Institutional Support Project, approved in December 2002; and financed with an African Development Fund (ADF) loan and technical support grant amounting to USD 32.56 million.
