This meeting would be most important if all the key African institutions and civil society organisations represented can establish a shared understanding and commit to a deliberate path to move us towards Aid-free development effectiveness.

04/11/2010 - Africa must reduce aid-dependency and foster new alternative sources of development finance, the African Development Bank (AfDB) President, Donald Kaberuka, has said.
Speaking at the opening of a two-day Second Regional Meeting on Aid Effectiveness on Thursday, 4 November 2010, in Tunis, Mr. Kaberuka said that African countries must build an agenda that is internally based, and underscores a reduction of aid-dependency.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) President, Donald Kaberuka, has been invited to co-chair the round-table to be held on the theme: “Domestic resource mobilization: achieving development and the MDG’s in a sustainable way” with Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid. The round-table is organized by the European Commission as a side event to the high level plenary meeting on the MDGs in New York on 20 September 2010. During the event, speakers will underscore the crucial role of domestic revenues in efforts at reaching the Millennium Development Goals in a sustainable way.

04/09/2008 - Bank Group President, Donald Kaberuka, on Thursday, September 4, 2008, in Accra, Ghana, met South African Finance Minister, Trevor Manuel on the sidelines of the High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness taking place in the Ghanaian capital. They discussed issues of mutual interest to the Bank Group and South Africa. Mr. Kaberuka had earlier met with OECD Secretary-General, Angel Gurria, and Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation, Gunilla Carsson, on Wednesday.
