Already, water poses a number of challenges for Africa like it does nowhere else in the world. With only four years left to achieve the MDGs, progress in the continent towards meeting the targets set out is slow and many countries run the risk of missing the mark.

22/04/2011 - Dans l’optique de mieux disposer la Banque à abriter le Fonds vert pour l’Afrique et de canaliser les différents projets qui seraient initiés dans ce cadre, les experts de la BAD multiplient les débats autour des questions liées à l’environnement, sans exclusive. Pour Modibo Traoré, chargé de gestion des ressources naturelles en chef à la BAD : «La Banque est fortement engagée dans la promotion du développement rural durable… C’est aussi l’occasion d’introduire en Afrique de nouvelles technologies plus sobres en carbone et partant, de promouvoir une croissance verte sur le continent». Il s’agit, affirme-t-il, d’un débat ouvert, auquel toutes les contributions sont les bienvenues.

15/09/2010 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved a USD 98-million (UA* 65 million) loan and grant to finance phase two of Tanzania’s Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Programme (RWSSI II).

14/06/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) will on 14 June 2010 host the fourth Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative (RWSSI) Trust Fund Steering Committee Meeting. The meeting will review the 2009 progress of RWSSI; approve the 2010 Lending Programme/Budget; and agree on the way forward. The meeting will bring together representatives from France, Denmark, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, and the AfDB.

14/01/2010 - Meeting in a regular session on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, in Tunis, the Boards of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved a loan of USD 70 million and a grant of UA 600,000 to finance projects in Egypt’s agricultural sector, as well as a UA 23.31 million African Development Fund (ADF) grant to Togo, equivalent to USD 36,6 million.

08/01/2010 - Le Groupe de la Banque et la République Centrafricaine ont signé, le 21 décembre 2009 à Tunis, un protocole de don concernant le projet d’appui à la réhabilitation d’infrastructures rurales (PARIR). D’un montant total de 3.85 millions d’unité de compte (UC), le don vise à augmenter la disponibilité des productions agricoles dans le pays, à travers la réhabilitation des infrastructures rurale et le renforcement des capacités des partenaires.
