An African Development Bank (AfDB) Regional Integration Strategy Paper (RISP) for Eastern Africa will be validated at a workshop scheduled to take place on 11 November in Nairobi, Kenya. The RISP covers Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. It is designed to support for regional infrastructure and institutional capacity building, including trade facilitation.

23/09/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and Sudan on Wednesday, 22 September 2010 in Khartoum, signed a USD 1-million emergency relief assistance grant agreement to help Khartoum State restore schools affected by floods.

In view of the forthcoming conference on Peace and State Building in Africa, to be held in Kigali, Rwanda from 16 to 19 February 2010, the second pre-conference consultation for African Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Peace and State Building in Africa organized by the Fragile States Unit of the African Development Bank, the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa is being held from 14 – 15 December 2009 in Juba, Sudan.

05/11/2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group President, Donald Kaberuka, has reaffirmed AfDB support to the Great Lakes Region and the region’s eleven countries at the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) taking place in Bujumbura, Burundi, where the AfDB is attending as a member of the conference and a bilateral partner.

An important AfDB delegation, led by the institution’s President, Donald Kaberuka, will attend a round table conference on the implementation of the Pact on Security, Stability and Development in the Great Lakes region scheduled to take place in the Burundian capital, Bujumbura, from 5- and 6 November, 2009.

15/07/2008 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the soft loan window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, in Tunis on Tuesday approved a grant of 15 million Units of Account (UA*) about US$ 24.5 million to finance Phase II and the phasing out stage of the Onchocerciasis (river blindness) Control Programme (APOC) in 19 African countries.
