24/10/2012 - The African Development Bank is organizing a Multi-Stakeholder Consultation Meeting on its draft Human Capital Development Strategy (2013-2017) in Pretoria, South Africa on 22 and 23 October 2012. Around 100 participants are expected from 12 Southern African countries: Botswana, Lesotho , Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Nigeria.

27/06/2011 - The Southern Africa region loomed large on the Bank’s operational radar in 2009, when loan and grant approvals to the countries climbed to USD 5.44 billion (UA 3.40 billion), from USD 769.44 million (UA 475.9 million) the previous year; representing over 600 percent increase. The numbers were propelled by two budget support loans amounting to USD 2.42 billion (UA1.51 billion) approved for Botswana and Mauritius, to help mitigate the impact of the global economic and financial crisis in these countries.

06/04/2011 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) today approved the 2011-2012 Regional Integration Strategy Paper for Southern Africa. Regional integration is one of the organisation’s priorities, , as reflected in its 2008-2011 Medium-Term Strategy, its Strategic and Operational Framework for Regional Operations and the its 2009-2012 Regional Integration Strategy.

15/03/2011 - African Development Bank (AfDB) President Donald Kaberuka has affirmed his institution’s strong commitment to enhancing regional integration and growth in Southern Africa. Addressing the media close to the end of a six-day official visit to the region, Dr. Kaberuka said the AfDB had done well in terms of the volume of its support to South Africa and the broader SADC region but still had to do more in view of the challenges that still abound.
