10/06/2011 - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and the government of Uganda have signed a loan agreement for USD 60 million The loan is to be used for the community agricultural infrastructure improvement programme (CAIIP-3) in the country. The objective of the project is to improve access to transport services for the rural population in order to develop an adequate, affordable, safe, environmentally sound and efficient transport system within the context of a progressive and competitive market economy.

An African Development Bank (AfDB) Regional Integration Strategy Paper (RISP) for Eastern Africa will be validated at a workshop scheduled to take place on 11 November in Nairobi, Kenya. The RISP covers Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. It is designed to support for regional infrastructure and institutional capacity building, including trade facilitation.

Robust domestic resource mobilization is the cornerstone for sustainable development. Donor assistance can bridge the fiscal gap for a while but ultimately cannot substitute for well established mechanisms for generating domestic revenue.

When the IRM is mandated to monitor the implementation of findings and recommendations of compliance reviews and management’s action plans, the IRM monitoring reports are also posted on the website.
