11/09/2009 - Ms. Nilmini Rubin, a senior member of staff on the U.S. Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee (which has oversight over the Multilateral Development Banks) recently visited Ghana as part of a study to assess project and programme effectiveness of aid, and proffer recommendations for increasing the effectiveness of international financial institution funding.

The AfDB Rwanda field office (RWFO) participated in celebrations marking the country’s classification as the world’s top reformer following the publication of the World Bank’s “Doing Business 2010” report which places the country at 67th position, up from 143rd in a previous edition.

03/09/2009 - A five-person US congressional delegation on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, visited two AfDB-financed projects on the outskirts of Kigali. The delegation, led by Representative Greg Meeks, comprised Georgia Republican Representative, Jack Kingston; Ohio Democratic Representative, Marcia Fudge; Texas Democratic Representative, Sheila Jackson Lee; and North Carolina Democratic Representative, Melvin Watt. The US congressional delegation was accompanied by a Bank Group team led by the institution’s Resident Representative in Rwanda, Diko Jacob Mukete.

28/08/2009 - A five-member US Congressional delegation met with the top management of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Friday, 28 August 2009, in Tunis, where they discussed key challenges, notably the African Development Bank Group’s response to the growing development needs of its Regional Member Countries within the context of the global financial crisis.
