31/01/2012 - In an interview ahead of his retirement on January 31, 2012, Compliance Review and Mediation Unit (CRMU) Director, Per Eldar Sovik, emphasized what he believes could be done to improve the work of the mechanism. “All applicable policies for the Bank’s private sector operations should be subject to compliance review…,” he says.
31/01/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Customs Organization (WCO) will work together to enhance the capacity of customs administrations in Africa. The declaration was made yesterday evening in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions, on the margins of the 18th African Union Summit.

26/01/2012 - Thursday 26 January was the second day of a two-day capacity building seminar organised by the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) and the Pan-African Lawyers Union (PALU) in Tunis. Its aim was to familiarise North African lawyers with the African Development Bank’s different organs and activities and offer them a better understanding of the institution’s legal requirements in financing infrastructure projects.

24/01/2012 - La Banque africaine de développement (BAD) a approuvé, le 11 janvier 2012, un financement de 64,45 millions de dinars tunisiens (32,45 millions d’euros) destiné à un projet de mise à niveau des infrastructures de traitement des eaux usées. L’objectif de ce projet est d’améliorer la qualité des eaux épurées qui serviront à l’irrigation de 5000 hectares de terres agricoles. L’agriculture constitue une importante activité économique en Tunisie et contribue à la sécurité alimentaire du pays.

24/01/2012 - The African Legal Services Facility (ALSF) and the Pan-African Lawyers Union (PALU) seminar on reinforcing capacity in international commercial disputes resolutions in the Northern Africa region opened today in Tunis. Opened by the African Development Bank’s Vice-President for Finance, Charles Boamah, on behalf of the President, the meeting is focusing on African Development Bank’s financial architecture as well as legal aspects of financing infrastructure projects from multilateral development banks’ perspective.
