The African Development Bank (AfDB) will hold its annual Partnerships Forum from 22 – 23 March 2012, at Hotel Ramada Plaza-Gammarth in Tunis, Tunisia. This year’s forum theme is “Transforming Partnerships towards a Green and Inclusive Africa.” Participants will include representatives of bilateral and multilateral donors, business sector, private foundations, knowledge institutions and Civil Society Organizations.

24/01/2012 - The Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) is to be a key topic of discussion in sessions of the Summit of African Heads of State and Government of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 23 to 30 January. The programme’s mandate is to accelerate the development of Africa’s regional and continental infrastructure.

22/01/2012 - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and its partners today released a trilingual version of the Quality Standards for Development Evaluation. It was released in Arabic, English and French under the aegis of a broad partnership bringing together the United Arab Emirates’ Office for Coordination of Foreign Aid, the network of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Development Assistance Committee (DAC), the Islamic Development Bank and AfDB.

“The African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) is committed to work with the Pan-African Lawyers’ Union (PALU) towards the creation of a better legal environment that creates an unquestionable stability necessary to attract national and foreign investments in Africa,” said ALSF’s CEO, Stephen Karangizi, as a prelude to a joint ALSF-PALU capacity building seminar that will be held from 24 to 26 January 2012, in Tunis.

19/01/2012 - African Development Bank (AfDB) Group president Donald Kaberuka, visited President Moncef Marzouki of Tunisia at the Carthage Palace on Thursday. The visit followed the one-year anniversary, on January 14, of the Tunisian revolution. Mr. Kaberuka congratulated the president, the Tunisian people and their elected leaders on the success of the country’s democratic transition process.

18/01/2012 - Last week, the African Development Bank successfully issued a USD1 billion, five-year bond. Order books totalled USD1.2 billion from 43 investors. Final distribution figures underscored AfDB's strong penetration across different regions. The order book was well diversified geographically. Asian investors came in as the largest buyers at 44 percent of the bond. European and American investors bought 18 percent, while African and Middle East investors bought 15 percent and 5 percent, respectively.

18/01/2012 - The African Development Bank and the Government of Uganda signed two separate agreements on 12 January to finance projects to improve health services delivery and access to water and sanitation in both urban and rural areas of Uganda, with a total investment of USD 155.8 million. This double deal is expected to boost the country’s efforts to meet the 2015 Millennium Development Goals for health, water and sanitation.

17/01/2012 - En visite à la Banque, les 12 et 13 janvier 2012, dans le cadre de la mobilisation des ressources pour l'Initiative pour l'alimentation en eau et l'assainissement en milieu rural et la Facilité africaine de l’eau, Michel Camdessus, a déclaré : «Nous devons passer à une stratégie dont l’Afrique prenne la responsabilité et qui soit déterminée par la demande et non plus par l’offre éventuelle des donateurs, pour chercher les fonds et les allouer le plus efficacement possible à l’eau et l’assainissement et au changement climatique.»
