02/03/2010 -  A civil society organizations forum, organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has taken place in the Tunisian capital, Tunis. The event, which was held on the theme: ”Raising the voice of African civil society organizations” brought together prominent personalities such as Canada’s former Prime Minister, Paul Martin; Botswana’s former president, Festus Mogae; the ECA’s Executive Secretary, Abdoulie Janneh; the Mo Ibrahim Foundation Chairperson, Mo Ibrahim; and South Africa’s Former Speaker, Frene Ginwala, and it was attended by representatives of civil society organizations across the continent.

02/03/2010 - Speaking on Monday, March 1, 2010, in Tunis within the framework of the African civil society organizations forum organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Botswana’s former president, Festus Mogae, said the civil society was the voice of individual citizens and that which would provide a reality check on issues of popular concern, adding that the common factors between these diverse groups were their non-profit nature and facilitation of public participation in the social or civic life of a country.

We, representatives of selected African Civil Society Organisations met on Monday, 1st March 2010 together with Senior Managers and staff of the African Development Bank, at the Sheraton Hotel in Tunis as part of efforts to define a structured process of engagement between the two parties. The meeting was under the chairmanship of Dr Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank Group and under the patronage of eminent members of the Coalition for Dialogue on Africa (CODA).
