Khartoum: The President at the AU Summit
President Donald Kaberuka is in Khartoum attending the 6th summit meeting of the African Union. After participating in plenary meetings on Monday, the President sat for a tête-à-tête with Senegalese Head of State, Abdoulaye Wade, and briefly exchanged views with AU Chairman, President Olusegun Obasanjo and other national leaders attending the summit.
In a diplomatic ballet that went on all day, Mr. Kaberuka also met with the heads of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), UNESCO, the FAO and the ECA.
Following his arrival in the Sudanese capital on Sunday, Mr. Kaberuka paid a visit to the family of the Bank’s first President, the late Mamoun Beheiry. He met with the former President’s widow and children, the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Mamoun Beheiry Centre, Mr. El Sadig, and the Governor of Khartoum State, Mr. Abdel Halim Ismail Almutaafi.
President Kaberuka also met on Sunday with the Minister of Finance of Sudan and ADB Governor, Mr Al Zoubeir Ahmed Al Hassan.
