15/03/2011 - One of the landmarks in the Bank’s efforts to implement more environmentally and socially sustainable programs and projects and consequently support Africa’s transformation to a green economy is the update of its Integrated Safeguards System. The Bank will on 21-22 March 2011 host an international seminar on SESA. 15/03/2011 - "The African Development Bank is one of the reliable friends who stands by you before you even launch an appeal for help”, said Tunisia’s Planning and International Cooperation Minister, Abdelhamid Triki, on Monday, 14 March 14, 2011. 08/03/2011 - A l’instar de toutes les organisations internationales, le Groupe de la BAD va célébrer, le 8 mars 2011, à Tunis et dans ses 26 bureaux régionaux, la journée internationale de la femme. Ce 8 mars marque également le centenaire de cette commémoration. Cette journée permet de faire le point sur les progrès réalisés par les femmes dans tous les coins du monde et se concentre sur ce qui peut encore être fait afin d'apporter une plus grande égalité et justice pour tous.

04/03/2011 - To become more active and able to deal effectively with climate change, women need to be empowered and granted greater access to education, extension services and modern technologies, said Osman-Elasha Balgis in an interview on the occasion marking 100 years of International Women’s Day. She also affirmed that emphasis on women’s education, including incentives and scholarships in science is important for sustainable provision of qualified women candidates required to occupy key positions and reduce the existing gap in public and private sector jobs.

25/02/2011 - “ADEA is working toward making the 2011 Triennale a platform for in-depth debate – with the participation of all stakeholders in development – on the reforms needed to build effective and relevant educational and training systems, for the sustainable development of Africa.” The Triennale, to be held in November, 2011 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, is the world’s most important conference on education in Africa. Nine months before the event, ADEA’s Executive Secretary, Ahlin Byll-Cataria, sheds light on the Triennial and related issues saying, “Africa’s advantage lies in its youth and in the dynamism of its population.” Read the interview.

The Bank’s visibility at this conference is being showcased by its mining team at their own stand throughout the conference period from 07 to 10 February 2011.
