Description

The project aims to rehabilitate 12 pumping stations located in Lower and Upper Egypt which have reached the end of their operational lifetime. Their rehabilitation will secure reliable and stable water sources for irrigation, allow proper operation and maintenance of the pumps and raise agricultural productivity in their command areas. The estimated cost is Euro 37.65 m (foreign) and EGP 617.5 m (local).


Rationale

The project is the Government's priority. It aims to increase agricultural production and productivity through increased area under irrigation.


Benefits

It will increase incomes of farmers and also reduce food insecurity in the country.
