Description

"Project Amount The Ministry of Finance informed the mission that a total of UA 34 million out of the ADF XII allocation for the country will be used to support various projects in Tanzania's education sector.

"Alignment The proposed new AfDB intervention is aligned with all relevant policy documents such as Education Training Policy (ETP, 1995), which is currently under review; Education Sector Development Plan (ESDP, 2008-2017); Tanzania Five-Year Development Plan (2011 -2016); the National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty NSGRP (2010-2015); the current CSP for Tanzania (2011 -2015); the Medium Term Strategy (MTS) of the Bank (2008-2012); and the Higher Education Science and Technology (HEST) Strategy of 2008 of the Bank.

"Overall Objectives The overall objective of the operation will be to prepare skilled labour for industry and the private sector.

Benefits

1.Expansion of equitable access and quality of middle cadre technical and vocational skills; reinforcing the use of ICT for teaching and learning purposes;

2.Increasing supply of laboratory technicians with a view to support the teaching and learning science subject at secondary education level; and

3.Strengthening rehabilitation and expansion of science infrastructure in existing Teachers' colleges.
