Description

The Programme will have two mutually reinforcing components: -Building Rural Enterprises (technical skills training in fabricating small equipment used in agribusiness value addition and for other trades; support with tools kits for trained artisans for fabrication and repairs of equipment for various trades; support with the establishment of rural infrastructure - training facilities, workshops, rural access roads


Objectives

The Programme will contribute to the reduction of unemployment and poverty as well improvement of social inclusion by supporting the development of small enterprises and artisans in rural areas and supporting business development services


Rationale

The purpose of the Programme is support the development efforts of the Government in the reduction of unemployment and poverty particularly amongst the youth and women through entrepreneurship skills development and the support for the development of rural enterprises. The Programme will also support the development of business enabling environment and the private sector by the strengthening the capacity of institutions responsible for business development, particularly in the rural areas.


Benefits

The Project will benefit the rural poor; particularly women and youth, through the development of skills and the setting up of rural enterprises for income generation and poverty reduction.
