Standard bidding documents

The new Standard Bidding Documents (SBDs) and their respective User’s Guides (where applicable) have been prepared by AfDB, and are based on the corresponding Master Procurement Documents (MPDs), prepared by the Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and International Financing Institutions (IFIs).

MPDs were designed to be used as models for issuing new and better harmonized standard bidding documents for each individual institution. The MPDs reflect what are considered “best practices,” and are being followed, insofar as possible, while allowing for institutional and member country considerations.

These Standard Bidding Documents reflect the structure and the provisions of the MPDs, except where institution-specific considerations of the AfDB have required some change. Many standard bidding documents are under review, and will be available for publication by the fourth quarter of 2009. Those most frequently accessed are listed below.
