Pillar III: Targeted Support
The Targeted Support Pillar provides a limited pool of dedicated grant resources to support operations in fragile states that cannot be addressed through traditional projects and instruments.
Eligibility
The following categories of countries, as elaborated in the continuum approach in the Bank’s Strategy for Enhanced Engagement in Fragile States, are eligible:
- Countries experiencing marked deterioration in performance;
- Countries undergoing conflict or in prolonged crisis;
- Post-conflict/transitional countries; and
- Countries considered to be gradual improvers
Resources from the Targeted Support Pillar are used to finance the following set of activities:
- The Capacity Building and Technical Assistance Program
- Service delivery through non-sovereigns, including private sector activities; and
- Knowledge building and management
