Projects & Programmes
The African Development Bank is implementing carefully developed and strong cost-effective measures to address Africa’s identified climate change risks in vulnerable sectors by improving land use, water conservation, infrastructure development, capacity enhancement, as well as policy and regulatory reforms.
This portfolio aims to:
- Increase investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable transport projects and programmes
- Improve agricultural, grazing and forest land management practices to strengthen productivity and resilience
- Prepare and plan for floods and droughts and extreme weather events by improving meteorological and hydrological information
- Improve water resource and river basin management
- Manage coastal zones including wetlands and forests through coastal land-use planning and the provision of engineering solutions to protect urban communities and economic infrastructure
- Improve health delivery infrastructure especially with respect to vector-borne diseases
- Climate-proof Bank investments in infrastructure
