The Bank’s Response to Climate Change
In response to climate change, the Bank approved two strategies to strengthen and mainstream climate change activities into its investments in 2008 and 2009. The Climate Risk Management and Adaptation (CRMA) Strategy seeks to address the looming impacts associated with climate change by climate proofing investments and supporting policy, legal and regulatory reforms as well as knowledge generation and capacity building. The Clean Energy Investment Framework (CEIF) addresses the need to expand energy access for Africa in a way that accounts for the range of costs associated with shifts in energy investments favouring low-carbon development paths. Currently the Bank is developing an Action Plan for implementing the two strategies.
