Caleb Fundanga

President, Institute for Finance & Economics, Zambia

Dr. Caleb Mailoni Fundanga is the current President of the Institute for Finance and Economics.  Previously, Dr. Fundanga served as Governor of the Bank of Zambia from March 2002 to September 2011, after working as Senior Advisor to the President of the African Development Bank in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire from 1998, and as Executive Director at the Bank from 1995 to 1998. He served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance before working in the Office of the President as Permanent Secretary. Some of his achievements include the Banker Magazine Award of “Central Banker of the Year – Global and Africa” at the beginning of 2007, as well as the Emerging Markets Magazine Award of “Central Banker of the Year 2007”, bestowed in September, 2007 in Washington DC. He was also awarded the “Central Banker of the Year 2008” by the Annual meetings Daily Magazine. In addition, Dr. Fundanga served as Alternate Governor of the IMF Board of Governors and as a Member of the African Export and Import Bank Board and Executive Committee. He also served as Board member and Vice Chairman of the Zambia Revenue Authority. More recently, he served as Chairman of the Junior Achievement Zambia Board and as Chairperson of the Programme Committee of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC).
