22/02/2012 - At the 18th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 23-30 January 2012, African leaders endorsed the Africa Consensus Statement to Rio+ 20, marking yet another step toward the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+ 20) to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 20-22 June 2012. The statement outlines Africa’s key priorities and concerns to be reflected in the outcomes of Rio+ 20 and is the result of many months of collaboration among key stakeholders, including the African Development Bank (AfDB).

02/02/2012 - Le manque de volonté politique ralentit la mise en œuvre des projets vitaux d'infrastructures régionales en Afrique, a déclaré le président de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD). Dans son discours à l'ouverture du 18e sommet de l'Union africaine dans la capitale éthiopienne, Addis-Abeba, plus tôt cette semaine, Donald Kaberuka a déclaré que, plus que le manque de ressources, le manque de coopération entre les pays est souvent le principal obstacle au lancement et à l'achèvement des projets critiques d'infrastructure régionale en Afrique. Ceci, a-t-il indiqué, a un impact négatif sur la croissance du commerce intra-africain. «Promouvoir le commerce intra-africain» est le thème du sommet.

01/02/2012 - African Heads of State on Monday endorsed the launch of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA), a multi-billion dollar initiative that will run through 2040.
In a statement at their 18th summit held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, the Heads of State approved the implementation of the recommendations in the study on PIDA presented to the summit.
