This conference is organized by the Harmonization for Health in Africa mechanism (HHA), in collaboration with the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). It will emphasize the urgent need to get the best out of available resources in order to accelerate progress towards the health MDGs and beyond.

The AfDB is Sponsoring a multi-stakeholder conference in Nairobi Kenya on the 18th and 19th of April 2012. Hosted by the Government of Kenya, in collaboration with Anadach Consulting Group and Tele-Health Society of Kenya, the conference will identify best practices and lessons learned from previous experiences of developing national eHealth strategies. One of the first of its kind in Africa, the event will also focus on integrating mHealth into eHealth strategy implementation.

Le prochain Sommet des Chefs d’Etat et de Gouvernement de l’Union africaine se tiendra du 25 au 27 juillet à Kampala, en Ouganda. Cette 15e session a pour thème : « Santé maternelle, néonatale et infantile et développement en Afrique ». La Banque africaine de développement (BAD) sera représentée à cet événement majeur par son président, Donald Kaberuka.

The governing board of the World Health Organization (WHO) African Programme for Onchocerciasis Control (APOC), comprising Health Ministers of the participating countries, representatives of donor countries and institutions and other health development partners, is to meet in the Tunisian capital to review progress towards elimination of the scourge of river blindness from the continent.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) will be hosting, 1-5 December 2009 in Tunis, the 4th Annual Meeting of the Harmonization for Health in Africa (HHA) initiative. What is exceptional about this year’s meeting is that it will convene a special two-day session involving Permanent Secretaries from Ministries in charge of Finance and Health from over a dozen African countries to deliberate on the Investment Case for Health Expenditures in Africa and to explore strategies to enhance coordination between these ministries.

Une délégation de Microsoft a achevé, mardi 15 septembre 2009, une visite de travail de deux jours avec le Groupe de la Banque. La visite a permis aux deux institutions de s’accorder sur les domaines concrets de coopération en matière des NTIC dans la santé, l’éducation, l’administration publique et la gouvernance. Les pays ciblés sont le Nigeria, le Sénégal, l’Angola et le Kenya.
