15/12/2011 - Under the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the African Development Bank (AfDB) will continue to develop a pipeline in the areas of climate adaptation and mitigation, land degradation and international waters in 2012. One to watch is a USD 7.2 million GEF grant project that the Bank is helping the Mano River Union (Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire) prepare to support conservation of the Upper Guinea Forest. The project will enable the implementation of a shared vision and the use of innovative tools to manage trans-boundary ecosystems and watersheds.

23/11/2011 - At its 41st Council Meeting held in Washington, D.C. on 9 and10 November 2011, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) approved a grant of USD 20.5 million for the Lake Chad Basin Regional Program for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Energy Efficiency.

12/04/2011 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) have organized a two-day workshop in Tunis aimed at familiarizing AfDB staff with cost-effective ways of accessing enhanced GEF resources for environment and climate change related operations. Through presentations and discussions on strategies, projects and programmes, the GEF delegates and AfDB-GEF coordinator advised operational staff and task managers on how to improve accessibility to GEF environment funds.

01/11/2010 - Seed Capital Assistance Facility helping investors provide early stage financing to clean energy entrepreneurs in the developing world. The United Nations Environment Programme, the Asian Development Bank, the African Development Bank and the Global Environment Facility have launched a Seed Capital Assistance Facility (SCAF) to help stimulate renewable energy and energy efficiency ventures in the developing world.
