27/10/2010 - The 27-29 October 2010 African Economic Conference (AEC) jointly organized in Tunis by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Development Bank for Southern Africa (DBSA) on the theme “Setting the Agenda for Africa’s Economic Recovery and Long-Term Growth” will be significantly different from previous editions, AfDB’s Chief Economist and Vice-president, Mthuli Ncube said.

22/10/2010 - The Boards of Directors on 23 June 2010 appointed Dr. Richard Bissell, the Bank’s new member of the Roster of Experts for the Independent Review Mechanism (IRM). The Bank’s communication team recently met with Dr. Bissell, who accepted to share perspectives on the institution’s IRM. “I think the Bank will be proud of IRM’s impact on development, and especially in providing for broad sharing of the benefits of economic growth with due respect for social and environmental issues,” he said.

07/09/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group is taking a lead in addressing climate change issues which are adversely impacting on the African continent. According to Youssef Arfaoui, a Senior Energy Expert and Investment Officer in the Bank’s Private Sector Department, the continent has real opportunities and potentials to respond to climate change, but the problem is that the countries are not effectively sharing information among themselves.
