05/04/2013 - Le 19 mars 2013, la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) et la Banque mondiale ont organisé, à Rabat (Maroc), un atelier réunissant des participants venus d’Algérie, d’Égypte, de Jordanie, de Libye, du Maroc et de Tunisie, pour examiner et améliorer le Plan d’investissement régional pour l’énergie solaire concentrée (ESC) - un plan novateur, financé par les Fonds d’investissement climatiques (FIC).

05/04/2013 - As of the 31st of March 2013, the Global Environment Facility’s Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) has granted USD 18.6 million to be channeled by the African Development Bank (AfDB) to Sierra Leone, Uganda and Mauritania for project concepts to help climate-proof their water sectors. This work is regarded as a critical element of these countries’ moves toward climate-resilient poverty reduction and sustainable development.

26/03/2013 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved, on March 25, 2013, a grant amounting to US $3.04 million to finance the Kholombidzo Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) Feasibility Studies in Malawi. The Government of Malawi will contribute US $0.23 million (7%) of the total study cost of US $3.27 million.

22/03/2013 - On the African continent, current low energy access rates and limited infrastructure development call for urgent action. Recent studies estimate that 57 per cent of Africans are without electricity. In 2012, at the 18th Summit of the African Union, African Heads of State endorsed a set of priority energy projects to be implemented by 2020 as part of the Programme for Infrastructure Development for Africa (PIDA).

22/02/2013 - Dans la lignée du Plan national d’investissement du Nigeria approuvé par les Fonds d’investissements climatiques (FIC) en 2010, ceux-ci ont annoncé un accord portant sur l’octroi de 50 millions $ EU au Nigeria, destiné à appuyer le programme de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) sur l’intermédiation financière pour les énergies renouvelables et l’efficacité énergétique via des banques locales.

22/02/2013 - Les FIC ont approuvé un don, d’un montant de 950 000 dollars EU, destiné à permettre au Nigeria d’élaborer un projet de refonte du système de transports en commun à Abuja. La requête de fonds pour la préparation dudit projet a été soumise aux FIC par le gouvernement du Nigeria et la Banque africaine de développement (BAD). C’est la première fois que les FIC approuvent un don pour un projet durable de transport en Afrique, une première qui ouvre des perspectives pour le secteur des transports en tant que volet du travail de la BAD et des FIC. Objectif : aider l’Afrique à évoluer vers un développement à faible émission de carbone et une résilience face au changement climatique.
