The conference will be a high level investors and donors conference which is being coordinated but the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and the office of the President supported by the relevant Government line Ministries sich as the Ministry of Infrastructurem the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Transport and Aviation. both local and international private sector actors in Sierra Leone will be providing supportm and their participation will be coordinated by the Sierra Leone chamber od commerce and the Sierra Leone Investment Promotion Agency.
The overall objective of the project is to support the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development in organizing the TIP conference as part of consultations among the government and other principal stakeholders such as domestic and international investment community and private sector regarding the TIP. The main outcome would be a broad consensus on how the Government and private sector can work together to achieve the TIP objectives. The TIP aims to address some of the critical infrastructure challenges faced by the country, particularly national administrative facilities and government service delivery, as well as transportation networks and their linkages with regional and global markets.
The current freetown is too congested and unable to meet present and emerging demand for structured services and utilities. This is especially so with the rate or spread of squatter settlements associated enviromental risks and management problems. The city is largely unplanned. There is no zoning into commercial, residential, industrial and governmental areas.
