Partnership overview
The Netherlands joined the African Development Fund (ADF) in 1973 and became a member of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in 1983. The Netherlands supported the 2010 General Capital Increase VI and ADF XII replenishment of the African Development Bank Group.
The Netherlands has provided various bilateral support to the AfDB’s operations through the financial and in-kind contributions to Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs); Water Sector Programme (Bilateral Water Partnership Program - WPP); Investment in Alternative Energy Programme-FINESSE; the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative (RWSSI); Infrastructure Development; Private Sector and Regional Integration Activities; and Making Finance Work for Africa Secretariat (MFW4A).
AfDB and FMO – the Development Bank of The Netherlands are partners under the African Financing Partnership (AFP).
