The short term staff category is governed by the internal Rules and Regulations of the African Development Bank as stipulated in its official documents.
The short term staff refer to all persons employed by the Bank on short-term contracts for an administrative or technical support assignment. Such staff members are not regular employees of the African Development Bank.
The Bank requires such category of staff mainly for (i) additional activities or workload not projected in the normal work program, (ii) replacement of regular personnel who are absent over long periods, such as in the cases of maternity leave, sick leave or study leave; and for (iii) some vacant positions.
The short term staff are recruited only to fill positions that are classified in the general support service category of staff of the Bank.
