23/05/2018 - Welcome to the 2018 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group! I am delighted to be in Korea – in the Smart City of Busan! So smart, that part of Black Panther, the new blockbuster movie rocking the world, was shot right here!

22/05/2018 - I am very pleased to be here in Korea once again with a large group of my colleagues to attend this KOAFEC Ministerial Meeting.

I wish to thank the Government of Korea for hosting us and for choosing a very timely and important theme, “Africa and the 4th industrial revolution: Opportunities for leapfrogging?” This year’s theme cuts neatly across all the African Development Bank’s High 5s: Light up and power Africa; Feed Africa; Industrialize Africa; Integrate Africa; and Improve the quality of life for the people of Africa.

22/05/2018 - It’s been a great day together. I’d like to congratulate the Government of Korea on it very successful and meticulous planning of the KOAFEC Conference, which has once again been both a genuine pleasure and an occasion for huge learning for us at the African Development Bank as we seek to accelerate the economic development of Africa.

22/02/2018 - I am delighted to be invited to speak at this 94th annual US Department of Agriculture's Outlook Forum. I have always been a great admirer of the USDA, which I fondly call the power that drives American agriculture. And what a great honour it was to have had Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue so kindly and generously announce my wining the 2017 World Food Prize, together with Ambassador Ken Quinn, President of the World Food Prize Foundation, right here at the US Department of Agriculture.

13/02/2018 - It’s great to be in Egypt for this Summit. And for good reason: Egypt has led innovations since the days of the pharaohs. Even today, the world is still amazed by the sophistication of science and technology that powered ancient Egypt for millennia. Innovations in architecture, science, medicine, mathematics, writing, and agriculture to mention but a few. So, hosting this summit here is another opportunity to see STI at work in Egypt, to tap into its rich history and its ongoing spirit of cutting-edge scientific inquiry.

18/01/2018 - I am delighted to be here today, to celebrate with the African Development Bank the commissioning of its Nigeria Country Office Complex. This building here in Abuja is, among other things, an important symbol of the special relationship between the African Development Bank and Nigeria – a founding member and the largest shareholder of the Bank from inception to date. And since 1971, the Nigeria Country Office has served as an important convening point between the Bank, the Federal and State Governments, and the private sector.
