In an interview on the margins of the just ended African Ministers of Finance Forum on the Global Financial Crisis in Tunis, jointly organized by the African Development Bank, the African Union, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, South Africa’s Finance Minister Trevor Manuel took a little time off for an interview with the media. Key issues discussed included the impact of the crisis on South Africa and southern Africa as a whole, as well as the role of the developed countries in helping cushion the impact of the crisis.
Although the global financial crisis has not yet had a direct impact on Zambia’s banking sector, it’s impact on foreign direct investment and commodity prices is already being seen in the national economy. These were the views of the Governor of the bank of Zambia, Dr Caleb Fundanga, during an interview on the margins of the African Ministers of Finance Forum on the Global Financial Crisis in held Tunis.
