Chief of Staff in Benin’s Development Ministry, Antonin S. Dossou
This is about having a coordinated African response to the global financial crisis. It is important for African countries to agree on the contribution to make to efforts at seeking a solution to the crisis. The AfDB initiative is great. This can be seen in the quality of participants with support from UNECA and AU Commission. It is necessary to pursue our development efforts in order to be part of the world so as not to be marginalized. After the conference on the financial crisis, it is necessary to keep up the effort. The third edition of the African Economic Conference is commendable. It’s also a forum to reflect on the best way to boost African economies to make them more competitive. Click here for more.
Head of the IMF Africa Department, Ms. Antoinette Sayeh
At this juncture, I feel this joint AfDB-UNECA-AU meeting is a good opportunity to hear countries to exchange experiences and challenges. We are happy to be here to listen and to make points, talking about what is happening in the world. I am impressed by the quality of discussions. There were good discourses among ministers, some talking about reforming. All this input aims to seek an answer to the global financial crisis. The AfDB-UNECA Economic Conference is another golden opportunity for brainstorming on the continent’s economic situation. Hopefully, there will be a strong and concrete signal at the end of the conferences.
