Plenary session 4: Institutions and Partnerships for effective integration

Political, economic and social dimensions of regional and continental integration require a strong partnership between the state and non-state actors including communities, the private sector, and various interest groups (labor, environment, IFIs). This session will examine the role of African institutions for regional integration in strengthening the social contract between the state and its citizens and the relations between state, regional and external actors and the mechanism required to jointly monitor, prevent and respond to challenges related to more effective integration.  The experts will provide best practices, lessons learned and recommend policies and actions aimed at fostering accountability and connectivity between national actors, between African countries and between African countries and the world in relation to trade, investment and wider partnership for continental integration.
