The 2014 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) will officially take place on Thursday, May 22 and Friday, May 23, 2014 in Kigali, Rwanda,. The meetings will be preceded by a series of High Level Seminars, a High Level Debate, and various other conferences and debates on major African development issues from Monday, May 19 until the end of the Annual Meetings program on May 23.

The theme of the 2014 Annual Meetings is “The next 50 years: The Africa we want”. 

Media Registration

If you did not receive an invitation to attend the Annual Meetings:

  • Pre-registration: you are invited to pre-register online, please scan and send the accreditation letter from your media organization when completing the online form.
  • Confirmation: if your registration request is approved by the AfDB press office, you will receive a confirmation email providing you with a Reference Code to complete the process and make hotel bookings if you need one.

If you did receive an invitation to attend the Annual Meetings:

  • Online registration: Please use the code you were provided and register online. Your accreditation becomes effective upon receipt of a confirmation email.
  • If Hotel Booking is required

    • If you need to make hotel reservations, scroll down the page to “Accommodation Information
    • Select “Yes”,  and “Submit” to take you to the Online Accommodation form
    • Provide the required information, select the hotel of your choice and click “Submit
    • Book your room by completing the form and click “Submit
    • An acknowledgement message will be sent to your email address and you will receive a confirmation for your hotel booking
    • The registration is now complete for processing. You will receive a confirmation letter by email after your registration has been cleared and validated. 
  • If No Hotel booking is required
    • If you do not need to book hotel accommodation, please select “No” after you finish your registration and click on the “Submit” button.
    • You will receive an acknowledgement message for your registration
    • The registration is now complete for processing. You will receive a confirmation letter by email after your registration has been cleared and validated. 


In addition to registering online, general press accreditation is required through Rwanda’s Media High Council (MHC). To receive accreditation, please email the following documents to or have them with you when you visit the MHC desk at the Serena Annual Meetings Village. If you apply via email, you will be assessed and your accreditation card can be picked up at the MHC desk in the media registration area.


  • Two (2) coloured passport-size photographs.
  • A copy of your passport.
  • A copy of your visa (except journalists from countries that benefit from the visa waiver, e.g. journalists from the East African Community Member States, United States of America, COMESA Member States etc.). Visit the Rwanda Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration for more information and to apply for a visa online.
  • A copy of your press card from the country of origin or, if you are a freelancer, a letter from the organisation employing you.
  • List of equipment to be used while in Rwanda. These may include, but are not limited to, digital cameras, broadcasting equipment, microphones, tripod stands, etc.
  • Accreditation fees are thirty (30) USD unless otherwise waived.
