Mr. Kurt Lonsway is an experienced engineer currently serving as the Manager for Environment and Climate Change within the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Change for the African Development Bank (AfDB). He manages a team of environmental, social, climate change and renewable energy specialists working with Bank operations in energy, water and sanitation, transportation, ICT and the private sector. He previously served as the Manager for Environmental and Social Safeguards and Compliance at the Bank and as an Environmental and Social Development Specialist and Team Leader within the AfDB’s Private Sector Department. Before joining the AfDB, he was a Technical Director and Washington, DC Branch Manager for the International Development Service team on Environmental Resources Management and subsequently served as the Moscow Project Coordinator for a large oil and gas project located in Western Siberia, Russia. Mr. Lonsway has over 30 years of international work experience, primarily in Africa and Asia, including long-term resident contracts in Côte d’Ivoire, in Tanzania as a Peace Corps volunteer.
