Dr. María-José Moreno is Chief Gender Officer in Human Development at the African Development Bank since September 2013. She has 20 years of experience working on gender equality and human rights in development, and so in Europe, Latin America and Africa. She has collaborated in a diversity of multilateral and bilateral development agencies such as the United Nations Development Program, United Nations Population Fund and UN-Women. For a decade she has served the German International Cooperation (GIZ) as project coordinator of regional and national initiatives in Latin-America and the Maghreb. She holds a diploma in Sociology and Political Science, and a MA on “Gender and Development”. She has a PhD with Essex University on gender and socioeconomic inequalities in paid domestic work in developing countries focusing on Mexico and Morocco. She has a number of publications on her fields of specialization is also a certified Coach.
