12/10/2018 - The African Development Bank has approved the East Africa Regional Integration Strategy Paper (RISP) laying out the roadmap for accelerating regional integration in the Region with regional infrastructure development among the main pillars of the plan. The Strategy will guide the Bank’s regional operations in 13 countries, namely Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

06/11/2013 - On average 40-60% of public expenditure goes to education, health and other types of social spending in Africa, which calls for improved governance, voice and accountability in social service delivery. Large inefficiencies in the use of resources in education and health have a negative impact on human capital, with drastic consequences for inclusive economic growth. In an environment of declining aid, achieving greater value for each dollar invested is critical.

This follows the completion in July 2013 of the last phase of the project for the following 14 African countries: Benin, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Kenya, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, and Togo.

An African Development Bank (AfDB) Regional Integration Strategy Paper (RISP) for Eastern Africa will be validated at a workshop scheduled to take place on 11 November in Nairobi, Kenya. The RISP covers Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. It is designed to support for regional infrastructure and institutional capacity building, including trade facilitation.
