20/02/2019 - The African Development Bank has kicked off a feasibility study to explore the potential of electricity cooperative business models in Nigeria and Ethiopia. The effort is part of the Bank’s goal of achieving universal electricity access across Africa by 2025. Currently, power shortages diminish the region’s GDP growth by 2-4% per year, holding back job creation and poverty reduction efforts.

17/01/2019 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) has signed financing agreements worth €115 million with the Government of Rwanda to support the Rwanda Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Programme as additional financing. The funding, which comprises €114.27 million from the AfDB window and €0.8 million from the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative Trust Fund, augments the original financing of €104 million AfDB loan and €43 million Africa Growing Together Fund loan approved by the Bank’s Board in 2017.
