Kuwait joined the Bank Group in 1982 and has consistently contributed to all capital increases of the African Development Bank as well as African Development Fund replenishments. Kuwait's engagement with the Bank Group and its support for Africa's development and fight against poverty are widely commended by member countries.
- The partnership between the Bank Group and Kuwait relates to co-financing initiatives through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, which administers Kuwait's bilateral and multilateral assistance. It has co-financed several Bank projects, programs, and technical assistance operations. The Fund’s co-financing is mainly focused on agriculture, irrigation, transport, communication, energy, water and sanitation.
- In April 2010, the Bank Group organized a business opportunity seminar in Kuwait that was attended by 50 companies. The Bank's Private Sector Department participated in a series of bilateral meetings with investors from the Gulf States and Kuwait.
